Connections are the relationships between you and your customers on LinkXG. No data flows until a connection is active, and you control what each customer can see through share policies.

How connections work

A connection has two parties: the supplier (you) and the customer. Either party can initiate a connection, but it only becomes active when both accept. Once active, you can share product data with that customer according to the share policy you configure.

Viewing your connections

Go to Connections in the main navigation. You will see your connections organised by status:
StatusMeaning
PendingA customer has requested to connect; awaiting your response
ActiveBoth parties accepted; you can share data
DeclinedYou declined the request
RevokedPreviously active, now terminated by either party
Select any connection to see details and take actions.

Responding to connection requests

When a customer invites you to LinkXG or requests a connection, you will see a pending request in your Connections section and in your Action Centre.

What you see

Each request shows:
  • The customer company name
  • When they requested
  • Any context note they provided (e.g., “We need product data for compliance reporting”)

Your options

Accept — The connection becomes active. You will be prompted to configure a share policy (or accept the default). Decline — The request is closed. The customer is notified that you declined. You can optionally provide a reason. Defer — Leave the request pending while you gather more information. The customer sees the request as still waiting.

What accepting means

Accepting a connection does not automatically share any data. It establishes the relationship so that you can share data according to the share policy you configure. You remain in control of what is shared and can change the share policy at any time.

Initiating connections

You can also reach out to existing customers who are on LinkXG but not yet connected to you. Go to Connections and select Find customers. Search for a company by name. If they are on LinkXG, you can send a connection request. Include a brief note explaining the context. The customer will see your request and can accept, decline, or defer.

Connection details

Select an active connection to see:
  • Customer information — Company name, location, when the connection was established
  • Share policy — What you are currently sharing with this customer
  • Activity — Recent data access by this customer
  • Products shared — Which of your products are visible to this customer
From here you can edit the share policy or revoke the connection.

Revoking a connection

If you need to stop sharing data with a customer, you can revoke the connection. Go to the connection details and select Revoke connection. Revoking:
  • Immediately stops the customer from accessing your data
  • Does not delete any audit records
  • Cannot be undone (you would need to establish a new connection)
Use revocation when the business relationship has ended or when you no longer want to share data with that customer.

Multiple customers

You can have active connections with as many customers as you need. Each connection has its own share policy, so you can share different data with different customers. Your customers cannot see each other. Customer A has no visibility into whether you also supply Customer B, or what you share with them.

Common questions

What if I decline a request by mistake? Contact the customer directly and ask them to send a new request. Declined requests cannot be reopened. Can a customer see that I have other customers? No. Your customer relationships are private. Customers only see their own connection with you. What if the same customer requests me multiple times? Duplicate requests from the same customer are consolidated. You will see one pending request regardless of how many times they sent it. How do I know if a customer is legitimate? The connection request shows the customer’s company name and domain. If you are unsure, verify through your normal business channels before accepting.
